Life Update

Hey guys,

It’s been a while since I have posted, so much has happened I went through a lot of stuff but you know what they say you have to go through the worst to get to the best. I honestly can say I feel that has happened I am at a better place than I was and feel I am more up to writing now as I didn’t have the motivation then.

I ended up getting an amazing job far more better than anything I have ever done before and I get to travel across Europe what’s not to love? So far I have been to Venice and it was beautiful. I also have an upcoming trip for a work conference in Valencia so I am loving life right at the moment.

I also started trying to be a little bit healthier I still have a way to go, but thanks to an amazing thing called Glyco Peel my skin is just beautiful I will elaborate more in a dedicated post. Now I am focusing my energy on going to the gym I have yet to sign up but this is next on my checklist so exciting …. or torturous times ahead depending on how you feel about the gym.

Another thing I have started doing is Younique being somebody who loves make up and having a very persuasive friend I decided to give it a try. Being very busy with work I have yet to focus fully on it but have promised myself that I will dedicate some time to my website and Facebook page and hopefully also integrate my Younique experience into my blog posts. I have had so far with the make up products I have used quite a good experience so I will make a post about that.

Anyways that’s all for now it feels really good to be back 😀

Mac Crazy

So I promised myself I would only buy foundation from Mac as I had run out. As usual I entered the concession ( is that what you call them if they are in a department store).

Well I went a bit crazy not full on but crazy for the fact that I don’t have much money. I ended up walking out with a beautiful nude lipstick in burnt spice, a 221 brush all my mac brushes were stolen by some fucking tramp in the last place I worked grrr. I got of course my foundation in NC42 a shade lighter as my summer tan has gone hoping to get back on the sunbeds and get it back and I got a black pro long wear fluid eye liner as I have a 65th wedding anniversary tomorrow so not really sure what type of look to do or what I’m going to wear.

It’s in a golf club I might wear this beautiful top I got from mango on sale and a pair of jeans with a nice pair of heels or a dress. I’ll post a picture of the outfit it would be good to get some tips as I don’t know if jeans will be too casual although they are really easy to dress up
They also gave me a cute little bag with some samples of Ruby Woo which I do have, in extreme black lashes mascara which is handy when you’re running low on mascara. A tan pigment I have never heard of but I’m thinking I’d bronzing, natural radiance in yellow which is a primer and gold strobe cream which is exciting as I love Mac highlighters especially good ones so I can tell it would be great.

Mac Liquid lipstick

I have two Mac Liquid Lipsticks and I’ve also bought some cheaper branded liquid lipsticks so I could see the difference. Today I tried Ess-Presso and Quite the standout.

Here is a swatch

I love with Mac lipsticks that they dry so quick within two minutes it’s set. My only problem is you need to make sure that you don’t make a mistake as it’s hard to rectify.
Trying on the lipsticks I wasn’t so sure about Ess-Presso it came out brown on my skin but on my lips it was a different story, it looked more like a black lipstick. I was more impressed with Quite the standout I think it suited my skin tone more. I did go into Mac and ask for an Orange Red colour as that is the colour that suits me (everyone has a red that suits them).

Here are some photos of the colours, another thing getting the lipstick off was a pain but I have found a good oil based makeup remover is perfect. I’m using Garnier Micellar Oil Infused water and it’s pretty good, if anyone has other products they can suggest let me know in the comments section.

Here are the results of the lipsticks please excuse my face it was literally baking outside and I had forgotten to use my Fix Plus.

Also I’ve noticed my frown lines between my eyes are becoming permanently etched (I frown a lot). I have been using Nip/Fab products but also any suggestions would be helpful as I would rather preven than cure. Ciao xxx

Superdrug gift box

So I have an S6 samsung phone so now I can say bye to crappy photos now that I have a decent camera.
I came home last night after dogsitting for my sister and found a box from Superdrug. Inside it thanked me for being an amazing beauty card member (I do spend a lot there lol) it also had vouchers and some goodies which i’m guessing were tailored to my shopping preferences

I got a Maybelline false lashies mascara I have seen this everywhere and wasn’t sure based on reviews and customer opinions if it would be a good mascara so i’m glad I can get the chance to try it.

Maybelline precise liquid liner i’m absolutely hopeless with liquid liner but i’ll definitely give it a try

Sleek tint balm I love their lipsticks so can’t wait to try this I have an interview in an hour so will probably try this.

And also seeing  as I’ve literally been buying so much Barry M nail polishes I’ve got a limited edition lolly gloss in Cherry Dop and a miniature boss fragrance for Her which smells divine. It is to celebrate the beauty cards 6th birthday let me know if you also got a box and what you got.

Hans Teeuwen UK Comedy Tour

My boyfriend and I went Thursday night to Leicester Square to see Hans Teeuwen at the Leicester Square Theatre, I want to be honest and say that I had never heard of him before but I do like to watch bands, musicians and comedians that I don’t know. It’s usually the best way to find new talent. We bought our drinks from the bar inside the Theatre and just as a pre warning if you are going to see any show at the Leicester Square Theatre Show even though it’s a very small intimate theatre they still do check your bags. I noticed quite a few people had their alcohol confiscated but you can ask them to keep it for you and get it after the show.

We sat down in our seats and it was quite nice and cosy, I would have preferred we had cup holders for our beer as we had to hold them when people were trying to get past us to get into their seats, but apart from that the seating was fine. The show in itself started off really good and although I admit there were one or two jokes I was a bit unsure about Hans did a really good job of entertaining the crowd, so much so that there was one lady behind me who I don’t think stopped laughing until the show ended. I’m surprised she didn’t keel over from lack of oxygen.

Without spoiling it for anyone interested or who is going to see him perform his impressions really did have me in a fit of giggles and I think I am quite hard to please when it comes to laughter, there were a few shock factor moments and quite a few offensive jokes so if that definitely isn’t your cup of tea then maybe I would suggest something different but honestly most comedians tend to have at least one offensive joke in their acts, I feel that to not go based on that would mean that you are missing out on a wonderful show. I definitely recommend watching his UK Tour if you get the chance you will not be disappointed.

The Bodyguard the Musical

img_20161030_114659So I before I start I must say I have been a bit AWOL this year, the beginning of the year was going really great but it took a turn (a bad one). People who I thought were friends turned out to be not so much “friends”. And then from that point it seemed to get worse, I’ve got myself out of a rut and things seem to be looking up but that’s where I always go wrong I always have something good happen and think that things will get better and when I let my guard down that’s when I always get stung, so I’m being a bit cautious at the moment and not getting my hopes up. Now without further ado here is my review for The Bodyguard.

I went to see The Bodyguard last night with my Mother, Sister, Grandmother and Great Aunt. It was a present for my mum who will be turning 60 tomorrow on Halloween. And as I learnt yesterday she was the 1000th baby born on Halloween what an achievement lol. We went for a meal right near the Dominion Theatre in a place called Scoff and Banter, the food was really nice I always go for Medium/Rare on my steak and it was perfect. The only thing I have to say is it that the service is lacking slightly as there are only 3 people waiting a whole restaurant so I asked for condiments for my steak and I was waiting so long I was halfway through almost finished my meal. My Sister and I had also ordered another drink for my mother and that was also forgotten about so I was not very happy about that but other than that everything else was good and they had even after hearing about my mothers birthday bought her out a little plate with a cake and scribbled in Chocolate was Happy Birthday so they redeemed themselves.

After finishing our meal we walked up to the Theatre and they do check your bags so make sure you don’t have any alcohol in there even if you want to drink it after the show. We bought our programmes which cost £8.00 I am a sucker for a programme I love them and collect them so will always get one for any show I am going to. After that we went and found our seats which was very easy to find, we were sitting in the downstairs area in the middle seating which is the perfect seating for anyone who wants a good view. You don’t want to be right at the front you want to be somewhere in the middle or in our case we were at least 7 rows from the front of the stage which is perfect viewing.

The show in itself (without spoiling it for anyone) was amazing, I rarely ever get blown away by anyone’s voice and I normally don’t say I am a fan of anyone but Beverley Knight has changed that all, I am literally in love with her voice she captivated me the whole show and I did not want her to stop singing she literally made me want to start singing (which is what the die hard fan next to me was doing it was pretty funny lol). She was so good she had us up dancing and I would recommend this show to everyone of all ages. You will not be disappointed.

PS Not to mention if you are a fan of seriously hot “mysterious” guys with American Accents you won’t be dissapointed with Ben Richards performance I think I have a new crush ❤

Updated Foundation and Brow pencil

Over the years I have tried many foundations from my teen years it was the cheap foundations that would usually leave lines on your face or make you look very pink, although that could just have been my technique. As I tend to have a cheap alternative when I run out of foundation and am waiting for pay day so my saviour is Rimmel Lasting Finish.I started using Double Wear by Estee Lauder I think it’s probably the best foundation I have used a bit thick but looked great, I really don’t know why I went on to try different foundations I probably wanted to try something lighter but with full coverage.

I have noticed how awful my skin has become, probably from all the thick foundations I have been using. I have used Clarins and the last one I have been using was MAC Studio Sculpt I honestly believe this was the foundation that has now made my face look like a pizza, I literally have spots everywhere acne it’s awful. My make up always looked thick and as my family told me like I was applying it on with a trowel not to mention drying my skin out.

I went to the benefit counter yesterday to look at foundations and was talking to the benefit lady, now I don’t know if it is competitiveness from the make up brands but I was told that the reason my skin is bad is that MAC sculpt is very pigmented and doesn’t let your skin breathe, so I ended up buying the benefit hello flawless foundation and also a Benefit instant brow liner. I am having a chill day today but when I go to work tomorrow I will play around with my new purchases and let everyone know what I think as I was using MAC eyebrow and it was wonderful the precision was amazing so Benefit has a lot to compete with but we won’t know until tomorrow

PS I will try and get a photo but I’m awful at selfies lol not to mention my awful camera 🙂

Jungle is massive… Wicked

Before Christmas I had no idea what my sisters present was for me, when we finally did our present handover I had to wait 2 weeks to open it. I was a bit unsure as to what it was because it was tiny and felt like a notebook. Matt gave me a clue (without me asking might I say) and he said Jungle is massive, I was completely thrown back by this and could only think of Ali G in Da House. I came up with many pointless answers and then it finally came to Christmas day, Matthew being mean kept giving me all my presents but made me wait for my sisters until the last one just to make me suffer more. When I finally ripped it open it was in fact an address book but it looked like it had been open before and fell open to the 19th February which underneath the date there was a little note ” I have tickets to Wicked the best seats in the house”.

I finally understood the clue and was overcome with a feeling of Joy and excitement, I was so happy as I was desperate to see the musical but never got round to doing it. So finally last night I saw the show and I have to say I am so glad I waited it was amazing. My sister had literally got the best seats right at the bottom not at the front but about 5 rows from the front so we were not literally craning our necks to see the stars but had a great view of them (apart from having a big head sitting in front of me lol).

Wicked is the story prequel to the Wizard of Oz and tells the story of how the Wicked Witch of the West came to be and her demise in the story. It is a very clever story that tells you all those unanswered questions you have ever had of the Wizard of Oz. How the Wicked witch of the west Elpheba and Glinda the good witch hated each other from the beginning but then grew to like each other and became very good friends, it’s a very sweet story about friendship, good vs evil and how appearances can be deceiving. Elpeheba played by Emma Hatton was the most amazing singer I have ever seen, I really liked her as Elpheba but couldn’t compare her to other Elpheba’s. The whole cast was amazing really I could not fault any of them and I think that I along with all the other females in the crowd fell in love with Fiyero played by Oliver Savile such a handsome talented actor. I don’t want to go on too much and give it away to anybody who has not seen the show or read the book for that matter. But I must say it’s worth going to you will not be dissapointed, It is a show that is for children and adults and I can definitely say as someone who tends to just watch a show or film once this is something I would watch over and over again. I have fallen in love with the show and am desperate to watch it again.

I would give the musical a 10/10 the songs were so beautiful and the voices of the main characters Elpheba and Glinda (Emma Hatton and Savannah Stevenson) were out of this world. I honestly recommend this musical for anybody who loves musicals, this is the type of musical that anybody can watch regardless of gender and age. So on a final note I really have to thank my big sister for an amazing present 😀 x

PS I have never read the book so hoping to get it asap so I can compare as I love to compare films and musicals to the books x

I’ve been quite ill lately so haven’t been able to get stuck into my new blog, a bit has happened since my last update. I’ve been quite fed up of my new job I was unaware that there was going to be a lot of sales calls on my part, when I applied they sugar coated it and made it out to be nothing like cold calling which it essentially is. I also agreed for the first 3 months to do unpaid work experience and that they would let me do the hours and days I wanted to do seeing as I wasn’t being paid and my expenses were not being paid. It is now 2 months into the job and I have been pulled into the office twice and told that I’m not doing enough hours and that they want me to come in early, how I need to stop thinking like a work experience person and start giving them more. I was disgusted by the way they treated me, I mean I’m doing this for free and I was told by another girl that there has been loads of work experience people so it finally hit me they obviously use people and then nearer the end of the trial they make all sorts of excuses to make you look bad so that they have a reason to not take you on.

I’m really angry that people can treat someone like that, especially since I was staying over my hours. I feel like I was asked to come in and work to do the jobs they didn’t want to do sales etc. And the worst part is I had managed to get them a few estate agencies on their books when we got work through then my colleague sent them quotes and prices they all complained that it was too expensive and refused to use our company. The staff all turned around and are now blaming me for not pushing sales and refusing to see it’s because they charge a £100 call out charge for a handyman whereas everyone else is charging £65 like who do they think they are?

And then having the audacity to blame me for it when I don’t make up the prices, I literally feel like I am fuming. When my boyfriend came to me and offered me an ultimatum I was more than happy to do it I mean my current job is awful and none of my family or Matt know about the unpaid trial so I can’t tell them which makes it easy to just rant on here. His current job was ending and he was speaking to a friend of his who emigrated to Australia and works for his uncles labouring company, he also has another friend who is going to Australia in a few months to join her boyfriend whose dad also owns his own labouring company. Matt (my boyfriend) had spoken to his dad and had asked me if I wanted to leave my job to go travelling first to Goa as I had been there before and Matt hadn’t. Then to go off to Australia after and work, I was so excited and happy that maybe we could actually do something with our lives rather than being in dead end jobs. I know I am only work experience but I don’t really know how to go in after this weekend to tell them I want to leave (I would stay if I was getting paid until I go travelling but they are not even paying me so what’s the point in staying).

I also need to do a lot of research about staying in Goa for a few months then off to Australia, like what Visas we should get? What jobs would be available for a female who wants to be in admin especially in Australia etc I’m so excited but so nervous this is a big step for me… but when I eventually do it I will be posting a lot about my travels. Fingers crossed x

The Killing of Polly Carter review

When I first saw A Death in Paradise I was hooked not realising that I was in fact watching the 2nd series. So when I saw the 1st series I was still unaware and thought that Humphrey Goodman had died and that Richard Poole was the replacement, I was gutted and did not like Richard at all I felt he was boring so as bad as it sounds you wouldn’t believe how happy I was when I found out it was Richard who had been killed off.

I came across the book and knowing how good the TV show was I was eager to just dive straight in, and I was not disappointed. The story tells of a supermodel called Polly Carter who commits suicide outside her beach house but when detectives go to the crime scene they realise it was not suicide at all but murder.  I was hooked from the start for me a book needs to keep my attention and not make me feel like it’s dragging on or there are pointless bits where it just feels like they are filling up pages. I did not get this feeling with the book even if there weren’t “exciting clue solving, and the piecing of evidence” the book still had so much character and I was literally laughing the whole way through the book. The awkwardness of DI Richard coupled with his prying colleague DS Camille and equally hilarious colleague Dwayne who had me in stitches.

I felt a bit in the dark in regards to not knowing anything about Richard’s history especially since the book seems to bring it up every now and again which makes it hard to understand what is going on when you don’t seem to have a clue, this may be because I have not read the first book which I am desperate to read a quick trip to Amazon and hopefully I will have the book soon.

All in all I think weighing the pros and cons of the book I would give it a 8/10 x
